This is a 12 hour course which place over two consecutive sundays (10am-4:30pm). It is primarily offered in French. Please see course decriptions to find courses in English.

Day 1

• Frame and fork inspection
  • Cleaning and inspection
• Headset check
  • Identification of headset types and components (threaded and threadless)
  • Inspection of headset bearings
• Lubrication of loose ball bearings
  • Headset bearing adjustment
  • Drivetrain inspection
• Identification of bottom bracket types (threaded and Pressfit)
  • Crankset removal and installation
  • Removal and installation of loose ball bearing bottom brackets
  • Inspection of sealed bottom brackets
  • Chain cleaning and inspection (length and wear)
  • Inspection of chainrings, cogs, and derailleur pulleys for wear
• Wheel inspection
  • Identification of hub and rim types
  • Inspection, lubrication, and adjustment of loose ball bearings
  • Inspection of sealed bearings
• Wheel truing
  • Basic concepts of spoke tension
  • Tire identification, selection, installation, and inflation (excluding tubeless)
  • Flat tire repair (optional)

Day 2

• Brake adjustment
  • Identification of brake types (dual pivot, v-brake, disc, etc.)
  • Full brake system check: from lever to brake caliper to braking surface
  • Full brake adjustment
  • Adjustment and maintenance of hydraulic brakes (excluding brake bleeding)
• Gear adjustment
  • Identification of drivetrain systems, including eTap and Di2
  • Rear derailleur adjustment: derailleur hanger, L, H, and B screws, and cable tension
  • Front derailleur adjustment: positioning, L and H screws, and cable tension
• Practice on the front wheel
  • Removal and installation of the wheel
  • Removal and installation of the tire
  • Hub inspection and lubrication
  • Wheel truing and centering
  • Brake inspection and adjustment
• Rider positioning
  • Clipless pedal cleat positioning and rotation
  • Saddle: angle, height, and setback
  • Stem: height and length
  • Handlebar: angle, shape, and width
  • Brake lever positioning
• On-the-road repair kit
  • Spare tube, CO₂ cartridge, and pump
  • Quick link
  • Extra derailleur hanger
  • Spoke wrench
  • Multi-tool

This course does not cover the following technologies:

• Electronic shifting systems

Nor the following techniques:

• Hydraulic brake bleeding
• Tubeless tire replacement

Prerequisite : Completion of the BASIC REPAIRS course or hands-on mechanical experience
